Ambulation Clinic
The CRME provides ultra-specialized services to clients with very complex and rare needs thanks to our highly-skilled and knowledgeable experts and to our latest testing equipment. Our ultra-specialized services are provided to clients upon referral from other rehabilitation centres.
Definition Ambulation requires the proper integration of neuromusculoskeletal systems. This integration creates a synergy of movement that enables a person to gait. Our clients are diagnosed with neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy, manifesting in spasticity; neuromuscular diseases such as muscular dystrophy; or with other forms of disorders that affect the ability to gait. For certain children, the ability to gait is still possible, however neurological and muscular aspects along with growth bring about complications in their ability to gait. A number of approaches can be used to develop a functional and efficient means to move about. For some children, the ability to gait deteriorates despite all therapeutic attempts. For other children, expected results cannot be achieved. Rehabilitation workers look for ways to better understand the children’s conditions; conditions that become difficult to clarify. Surgery becomes a potential solution, but cases involving multiple deformations require careful planning.
